Up to $10,000 total in scholarship funds is given to undergraduate or graduate students in university, college or another institute of higher education.
This scholarship is meant for those who show not only good academic effort, but also show interest in continuing and improving their Latvian language, culture awareness and societal interests.
Priority will be given to Northern California and US West Coast students.
The request for a scholarship must include the following information: Name, university, field of study, graduation date.
Applicants have to submit a biography (life summary) which must also cover achievements, activities, and future goals.
The request for scholarship must include at least two letters of recommendation from persons who are or have actively worked for the betterment of Latvian society on the social/community level, for example a teacher or the local minister.
Applications must be received by October 25 by the Church president, Mr Gvido Bergmanis.
Awards will be announced at the November 18th Latvia's Independence Day event in San Francisco.
